Reservation Policy

Reservation in Government Jobs & Admission in Educational Institutions for Tribal:-

To protect the interest of the tribal, as per population ratio (presently 31 %), reservation for admission in various educational institutions and jobs in Government Departments (both for direct recruitment and promotion) had been introduced by the State Government since 1978. Tribal Welfare Department had been declared as Nodal Department for enforcing the Reservation Policy announced by the State Government for STs in Government Jobs. Tribal Welfare Department strictly monitoring the implementation of the Tripura Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Reservation Act, 1991 (As amended upto February, 2006) for departmental promotion / direct recruitment in all Government Departments / PSUs and local bodies. For admission in schools / colleges, allotment of seats in Medical / Engineering and other Technical and General Courses, 31% reservation for ST is strictly followed.
